Patented technology uses dealership cameras and artificial intelligence to track each vehicle and report real-time progress of operations.
RALEIGH, NC, UNITED STATES, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SKAIVISION, a provider of AI-powered computer-vision solutions for automotive retail, today announced the issuance of a new U.S. patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent,U.S. Patent No. 12,718,563, is entitled “METHODS FOR REAL-TIME VEHICLE TRACKING OF A VEHICLE IN AUTOMOTIVE DEALERSHIPS USING A CAMERA AI.” The patent covers SKAIVISION’s technology for automatically monitoring dealership process efficiency using artificial intelligence and standard surveillance cameras.
The patented method addresses a primary challenge in dealership operations: knowing, at any given moment, exactly where a vehicle stands in a workflow and whether immediate additional action is required per the process definition. SKAIVISION’s technology learns to recognize each vehicle from ordinary camera video, follows that same vehicle as it moves from one camera’s view to the next across different areas of the dealership, detects the activities being performed on it, and continuously determines a “degree of completion” for a business operation relevant to the vehicle.
The information obtained from the SKAIVISION process can be delivered in real-time to subscribers through real-time notifications or web-hooks to other software systems to provide dealerships accurate evaluation of vehicle intake, service, trade-in data, and delivery, all without the manual tracking or user task completion those tasks have traditionally required.
“This patent protects a foundational part of the SKAIVISION vision: bridging the gap between what is physically happening across a dealership and what its business systems understand. By combining computer vision, real-time vehicle intelligence, and dealership data, we can turn existing cameras into active business tools that improve service operations, initiate MCPs or APIs, enhance vehicle acquisition and help dealerships respond faster. This is an important milestone for our company and reinforces our commitment to building a key data and intelligence layer for the modern automotive retailer.” said Jason Fayling, CTO/Co-Founder of SKAIVISION.
Where conventional tracking tools depend on hardware tags or staff manually logging each step, SKAIVISION derives the same operational intelligence directly from video the dealership is already capturing — an approach the company is expanding across additional operations and locations.
